Clip is delighted to announce the launch of Clip Racing, competing in the Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship – C Class for the 2018 season.
The Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship is regarded as the most competitive club level saloon car championship in the country. The championship takes place at Castle Combe Circuit, the second fastest circuit in the country, with drivers reaching over 120mph on the start / finish straight.
The championship takes place over eight races, spanning April to September and attracts average attendances of 6,000 per race. 42 cars will compete for the title.
The Clip Racing car will be driven by Nathan Nicholls, who has been track driving for over eight years, although this will be his first season in competitive motorsport. Nathan will be driving a Saxo VTS, built by himself and Rock Valley Automotive. The car generates over 200bhp and weighing 750kg (plus a little extra because Nathan had chips from the chippy last week) it delivers the same bhp per tonne as a Porsche 911 turbo S.
Nathan commented; “Having been track driving for nearly 10 years, moving up to competitive racing was a natural next step that I’m delighted to be taking. I know from my lap times that I have a chance to put in some decent performances and I am looking forward to challenging for some podium places in my first season. I have spent a huge amount of time on the car along with my team at Rock Valley Automotive but stepping up to this level has been made possible through the support of my sponsors, Clip, Forge Motorsport, Definitive, Road Track Race Parts and Cobra Seats.”
Head of Marketing at Clip, Paul Runacres also commented; “As a company, we have always had strong connections with local sporting clubs, with previous sponsorship of Chippenham Rugby, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and Bath Rugby. This gives us an opportunity to branch into a new and exciting sport which we are very much looking forward to. A large number of our existing clients, such as Dextra Racing, Mann-Filter Motorsport and Wix Racing, have their own race teams, so whilst we are not yet in their league on the track, we look forward to being able to learn from their successes as we are the ones seeking advice for a change!”
Clip will be offering chances for people to join the Clip Racing team in the pit lane on a race day and also to have ride-alongs on track days. For your chance to take part in any of these events, contact the team on ClipRacing@clipdisplay.com.
